Codeless Automation Testing 2022
What and How
Codeless testing refers to an approach where test cases are automated without the use of code.
Codeless automation is not 100% codeless. What happens is that while the tester is recording the test, the codeless automation tool is working in the background. This allows for QA and Testers to focus on QA and testing rather than learning how to write code
Most codeless automation tools in the market now provide a host of built-in features, needless of complicated coding. Some of these features are record and playback, drag and drop interface, and integrations of AI/ML technologies, all made to remove the burden of scripting for QA professionals.
When testers don’t have to spend all their time trying to automate their regression tests by writing code, they have more time for exploratory testing of the application in which they are experts. What’s more, with codeless automation there’s no need to involve developers in the creation of UI tests, which is more cost-effective.
Less training for testers:
When testers need to code their tests, they usually undergo specialized training to learn to program. With the introduction of codeless automation, it is easy to train several testers in creating automated tests, without any need for scripting skills.
Improve adoption with a shared automation solution:
Automation Platforms can be used as a one-stop-shop solution for automation needs across an organization. With a UI-based Automation framework, it’s easy to understand flows created by other users.
Extend the scope of automation:
The codeless automation process makes it easier to support various types of applications, including desktop, web, and virtual applications.
Codeless test automation, has an intuitive GUI, thereby making the process of test creation faster and simpler. Thus, even a manual tester can efficiently perform test automation.
Empower Agile methodology:
It allows team members with diverse functions and knowledge to take part in the test process. Plus, most codeless testing tools also provide accessibility for all team members with different skill sets and responsibilities. Thus, ensuring the project stays transparent and keeping a collaborative workflow for the team.
Less scope for customization:
When everything is done in the background automatically, there is less room for the testers to customize the scripts, leaving the entire testing outcome up to the automation tools.
It’s not 100% codeless:
The scripts are created automatically, there may be requirements for manual coding at some points, so some testers will probably still have to know the basics of scripting.
Public Availability of Products:
These days, most codeless testing tools can be acquired from the internet. Hence, getting your products tested using these tools the developer needs to share the file using a common IP address. This function makes the product easily accessible to the public.
